INTRODUCING: The Learning Guide

Cara Laird

I'm Cara (pronounced Care-uh). I'm a native Tucsonan; I live here with my husband, two children, and our dog MacKenzie. I have a bachelor's degree in psychology and creative writing. I have worked with children in many different settings since high school, including as a Prenda microschool guide from 2020-2023. I have also been a homeschool parent and co-op teacher, a social worker, a nanny, a preschool teacher, and a foster group home caretaker.

I enjoy helping kids learn how to learn! My role is to provide guidance, gentle encouragement, and emotional support, in order to help the children in CASA Class empower themselves as learners. Of course, I'm here to help with especially tricky grammar or math too!

I am also an author of fiction and poetry. When I'm not writing, or working with kids, I love to read, hike, travel, eat really good food, and do yoga. I enjoy family movie and game nights at home. My favorite coffee drink is an iced decaf brown sugar oat milk shaken espresso, despite the obnoxiously long name.
